Hazelnut whose mother land is Anatolia, has been produced in our country since 2500 years. Thus, with the most valuable sorts in the world trade, our country is the wanted spreading out place of the most valuable culture sorts.

Turkey produces the 65-70 % of the world hazelnut production by producing 350-600 thousand tons per year. And Turkey realizes the 70-75 % of the world hazelnut trade.

Hazelnut has found the Black Sea Region the most suitable place for growth. Giresun, Trabzon, Sakarya, Samsun and Bolu are the most popular 5 cities (the number of the cities increase up to 13) that produce hazelnut for economic criterians. Hazelnut is especially the only agriculture product of the East Black Sea Region. On the other hand producing hazelnut on the inclined areas and on the areas that has less depth of soil, is the best way of winning the war against Erosion.
